An introduction to Self Pulse

“An embodied approach to pulse diagnosis, is taking your own pulse beyond just for physical health promotion. It is a way to balance body, mind and spirit” Riïm The intellectual application of Ayurveda can push away the art, skill, intuition, self-healing, and spiritual basis of Ayurveda as taught through the pulse. A way to experience and embody Pulse reading is the Self Pulse technique as was revived and taught by amongst others Maharish Mahesh Yogi. As student of Ayurveda and practitioners of Ayurveda it is really worth taking the time to develop this skill. In fact everyone should learn it! Self-Pulse technique is a self-referral technique by which you take your own pulse, which brings self-healing, enhanced awareness, and spiritual awakening. Maharish Mahesh Yogi said everytime you take your pulse it brings you closer to enlightenment. Self-pulse reading is the most ancient and natural means of determining the level of balance or imbalance in the mind and body. It allows you to detect imbalances early before they manifest as disease. Just taking your own pulse increases the balance in the pulse and thereby the balance of the whole mind and body. Taking your own pulse enlivens the connection between your mind and body, consciousness and matter. During our year program Fundamentals of Ayurvedic medicine we teach our students this self referral technique so that it can be applied as an ancient technology to maintain health. We guide our students and encourage and empower them to practice it daily. This is where students start before they start practising to feel pulse on others.
